The Animal Rescue Files

How everything began....

Simba, Istanbul, 2008

I stood outside a veterinary clinic in the Levent district of Istanbul, soaking wet in the rain. Inside the clinic, on the top floor, in a tiny area supposed to be a basic operating room, lay the lifeless body of my much-loved dog, Simba.

Simba died on the operating table from cardiac arrest while some mammary tumours were being removed. The vet operated alone, without an anaesthetist. He made a mistake and my dear friend was gone for ever.

I was so angry that I didn’t even feel the cold.

Simba deserved better.

The very next day I embarked upon a mission that would change the lives of thousands of animals and their families.

If you are reading this, my mission could well be about to change yours…

Extreme Rescue

I needed a slogan that would describe my dreams and objectives: Saving animals, Inspiring people. Thousands of animals wrenched from the brink of death and adopted by wonderful families willing to give them a life of love and warmth.

As it happened, over the years, rescue after rescue, Lets Adopt! became best known for veterinary excellence at the service of homeless animals.

We started to receive pleas for help from the world over for animals in extreme conditions, abused animals with impossible injuries, traumatic fractures resulting from unimaginable cruelty, animals abandoned with chronic diseases that had never been treated. Most of these animals had been rescued by other organisations that soon realised that they would not be able to save them.

Case after case, our rescues made us what we are today: the first animal rescue organisation in the world specialising in Extreme Rescue.
